Prayer


It’s easy to think that we would “never” have done what the praying believers did in Acts 12.  Of course, we wouldn’t have doubted God’s ability to answer our prayers while we were still saying them.  How are you so sure?  Have you never prayed for something more from obligation than from expectation?  You know the answer to this question.

Members at Maryville


Linda Hughes (Red CG) has been moved to Room 715 at UT Hospital after a heart procedure on June 22.                    
Steve Tipps is now at home but still being treated for pneumonia.
Joshua Simpson received a good report after the bronchial scope on June 25.
Ruth Price (Green CG) remains at Ft. Sanders, room 416.
Herbert Byrd and several of our youth and other adults are at Hillbrook Camp this week.

Please Pray For—


Members at Maryville


Linda Hughes (Red CG) will be having a heart procedure on Monday, June 22 at UT.  She will be in intensive care for 24 hours and then in the CCU for 4 to 5 days.  
Steve Tipps is in BMH Room 403 with pneumonia.
April Montalvo was in BMH but was able to go home on Tuesday.
Fran Jennings had cataract surgery on Wednesday.
Joshua Simpson will have a bronchial scope at Children’s Hospital on June 25.

June 22-27 Sr. High Impact at Lipscomb - leave Monday at noon return Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
June 24 -  Ten dollar Tuesday noon till 4:00 p.m.
June 28-July 3rd  -  Jr. High Camp at Hillbrook
July 3rd –July 12th  -  Trek leave at 6 am
July 4th  -  Fourth of July party


The teens are not slowing down. We just finished VBS and are headed to Nashville for Impact.  Please keep us in your prayers for a safe trip as we travel.  We still have one opening for Trek.  I would love to take a full trip.  Let me know if your teen is interested.

The “He” is King Solomon who commissioned the temple’s construction based on an inspired design given him through the leading of the Holy Spirit.  I’ve never paid attention to the biblical detail of offset ledges around the temple.  And I certainly have never pondered the rationale for such.

Goodbye, Chris!!


Today will be Chris Nipper's last Sunday with us.  He will be moving to Colorado Springs, CO, to take a job with the school for the deaf there.  We appreciate his work with the deaf congregation here and wish him well in his move.

The Lord Speaks (Part 3)

Some study in search of correct doctrine.  They want to know which teachings are right and which teachings are wrong.  While such a search is proper, unfortunately, it is the only reason they search.
Some study to grasp God's purpose.  They have studied enough to know God has a purpose.  They want to understand God's purpose better.
