"Not Doing Anything"?
By Cecil May (from Preacher Talk, August 2007)
A preacher said of his congregation, "These people are good, spiritually-minded people, but except for assembling on Sunday morning, and some coming back for Sunday night and Wednesday night, this church just isn't doing anything." Really?

Jesus the Missionary
by Billy Leavell
Jesus a missionary? We're not used to thinking of Him as a missionary, but that's exactly what He was—God sent Him to this planet. The King James Version of Hebrews 3:1, "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Jesus Christ." And the word "apostle" means a person who is sent.

Adult Education Classes
Summer Quarter—May, June, July
Sunday & Wednesday Classes
1 & 2 Peter and Jude Chuck Drum Room 204
Peter addresses external problems of the church in 1 Peter, internal problems of the church in 2 Peter, and Jude warns against perversion of grace by the church. We will complete textual studies of the three books, and apply their solutions of hope, knowledge and grace to problems of the church today.
Islam Dan Chambers Fellowship Hall
Islam is expanding rapidly worldwide and, needless-to-say, it is shaping events around the globe. With this rise comes the real possibility that the average Christian will eventually find himself interacting with Muslims. This fact alone underscores the importance of understanding Islam and being able to answer the Muslim's basic belief systems. This class will explore Islam's origin, explain "the five pillars of faith," and examine the gulf that exists between the Bible and the Quran.
Sunday Only Classes
Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi Mitch Lollar Room 202
The study of the last three Minor Prophets will find our lives enriched in at least three ways as we improve: --our knowledge of holiness, righteousness, justice and mercy of God; --our understanding of the way God deals in the nations of mankind; --our further appreciation of the Bible as a literary masterpiece. An understanding of the conditions of the days of the prophets and their message with modern day spiritual applications will make them come alive. Remember, they are written "for our learning" according to Paul in Romans 15:4.
College Class Drew Salyer Room 203
The Barnabas Factor by Aubrey Johnson Realize your encouragement potential! This class will be a study of how we as Christians are called to be encouragers, how to become better encouragers, and how to be an active encourager.
Evangelism Roles P. J. Hicks Room 206
Reaching and Teaching the Lost: This personal evangelism class is designed to teach and equip each person with various methods to have a one on one Bible study. The class will involve some role play to demonstrate proven successful ways to setup Bible studies, to teach Bible studies, and enhance our approach to reaching the lost. This exciting series will bring together those who are inexperienced personal workers and seasoned veteran soul winners. The mission of the class is to fulfill the great commission; Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Wednesday Only Class
Christian Parenting P. J. Hicks Room 206
Raising godly children: Bible principles for parents to follow in family training and parenting. This will be a facilitated discussion class on Christian parenting focusing on such topics as to which parenting and child raising authorities to follow, purposes and goals for families, motivation and discipline for unruly children, discipline and rewards, and raising Godly children despite modern social pressures in entertainment, recreation, and education.
Verse of the week: "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2) |

Continue to be Faithful to God! (part 4)
by Sam G. Roach
The Bible says, "If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and we do not practice truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:6-7).
