"The Lord Speaks" (Part 2)

God's word, the Bible, repeatedly declares itself to be "alive." It is not a dead book with a dead message from dead men. It is the source of spiritual truth that frees, sanctifies, and purifies. Regardless of how alive it is, how much power it has, or how it can bless, it cannot and will not significantly bless a person if he or she does not study it.

Jesus illustrated several essential truths using these examples. First, He reiterated the lesson of Job, that human suffering is not always the direct result of sin on the part of the sufferer. (Jesus would teach this same lesson in John 9: 1-7 by healing a man who was born blind.) |
